TURNING YOUR PAIN INTO INSPIRATION
24 OCTOBER 2023, 6.30 PM TO 8 PM, 6 NIXON STREET, AUCKLAND
Turning Pain into Inspiration investigates the alchemical transmutation of trauma and adversity into aesthetic form. This session moves beyond the concept of catharsis to analyze how the artist’s interior struggles are reconfigured as generative creative material. By examining the transition from personal suffering to public resonance, the conversation explores how art functions as a site of profound emotional labor. We consider the capacity of the creative act to serve as a catalyst for empathy, positioning the "wounded" experience as a foundational element for works that challenge and connect with the collective consciousness.
